{"id":3742,"date":"2013-03-17T23:54:47","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T17:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/?p=3742"},"modified":"2013-03-20T18:36:48","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T12:36:48","slug":"luna-llena-rock-bar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/2013\/03\/17\/luna-llena-rock-bar\/","title":{"rendered":"Luna Llena Rock Bar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Luna-Llena-March.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3619\" alt=\"Luna Llena March\" src=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Luna-Llena-March.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A group of friends went up to Luna Llena Rock Bar last night to check out The Vampire Shadow\u2019s Nigth.\u00a0 It was my first time there, so I figured it was worth a short review, both of the bar, and of the show.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Vampire.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3780\" alt=\"Vampire\" src=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Vampire-300x111.jpg\" width=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Vampire-300x111.jpg 300w, http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Vampire.jpg 717w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luna Llena is considered to be one of the three best rock bars in La Paz.\u00a0 This is serious rock, tending towards metal.\u00a0 You will not be hearing any Abba covers here.\u00a0 The bar is small, not more than about ten tables and some ten bar stools.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the room is \u201cL\u201d shaped, but there is a big screen TV providing another view of the on stage action to those sitting at tables at the wrong end of the \u201cL.\u201d\u00a0 Still, if you can reserve a table at the L\u2019s angle, that is definitely the place to be \u2013 you can see both the TV and the stage.<\/p>\n<p>The tables are useful, since the bar has a full food menu, including meat, fish, vegetarian and chicken dishes.\u00a0 We weren\u2019t really hungry, so we limited ourselves to nachos, which were not great, but then nachos seem to be a difficult thing to get right in Bolivia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN2836.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3786\" alt=\"DSCN2836\" src=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN2836.jpg\" width=\"427\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN2836.jpg 427w, http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DSCN2836-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><\/a>The truth is, though, that it is not so important where you are sitting.\u00a0 Once the music starts, you will probably want to stand up and get over by the stage where the action is.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, this is a small venue, and wherever you are seated, you can be very close to the action very easily, which makes it a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, the crowd is pretty young \u2013 I was about the oldest person there.\u00a0 The sound was good.\u00a0 Not too loud, for a metal club.\u00a0 I never wear earplugs to a concert, but those with me who do said they had no desire to put them in.<\/p>\n<p>The Vampire Shadow\u2019s show was a three-band lineup.\u00a0 It started with <a title=\"Libellula\" href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/bolivian-rock\/bands\/libellula\/\"><em>Libellula<\/em><\/a>, a gothic metal band.\u00a0 <a title=\"Antifona\" href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/bolivian-rock\/bands\/antifona\/\"><em>Antifona<\/em><\/a>, a symphonic metal band followed.\u00a0 <a title=\"Belfast\" href=\"http:\/\/memmott.us\/blog\/bolivian-rock\/bands\/belfast\/\"><em>Belfast<\/em><\/a> closed the show with Celtic metal, mostly a tribute to Spanish Celtic rockers <em>Mago de Oz<\/em>.
