Hawaii
So, after 48 long hours of travel, we made it to Hawaii four days ago. It’s a tremendous relief to have the packing done, the car sold, the last work from the office finished (well, almost, I did bring a little bit with me), and get someplace warm. Still, we are already missing Bishkek and […]

Onward to Bolivia
So, the subject matter of this blog is going to change! Tatyana, Aliciya and I have left Bishkek to begin our next adventure. Over the next few months we will be reacquainting ourselves with the U.S. and getting ready to move to La Paz, Bolivia, where I will serve as Deputy Chief of Mission. For […]

Week at Lake Issyk Kul
We had a great week visiting Lake Issyk Kul. Issyk Kul is the centerpiece of the biosphere reserve of the same name, and one of the most famous sites in Kyrgyzstan. At more than 5,000 feet above sea level, 113 miles long, up to 37 miles wide, and more than 2,000 feet deep, it is […]

Baguio
We stopped in Baguio on the way back. The American Ambassador’s Residence there is probably the most relaxing place in the Philippines.

Banaue Rice Terraces
The weather did not really cooperate with our trip to the rice terraces. It rained most of the time we were in Banaue, and the mist blocked the view. Still, we had a good time and got to show my parents one of the great heritage sites of the world. (Click on the thumbnail to […]

Road to Banaue
We went to Banaue to see the rice terraces. It’s a ten hour drive, but mostly through interesting country.
